It starts in the lush Mulberry fields of Houshan region of Anhui Province, China, where the fine silk production process has a long and respected tradition.

This family has contracted with thousands of local farmers who grow mulberry leaves and nurture the silk worms as they spin their cocoons. They have been awarded the National Poverty Alleviation Enterprise certificate from China's State Council, in recognition of their role addressing rural poverty by supporting farmers.

Once the cocoons are grown, the farmers deliver them to the production company, where they are spun into raw Mulberry silk fibers. Because the silkworms of the Bombyx mori moth are fed only mulberry leaves, the resulting silk is some of the finest available in the world. Pure white in color and made up of individual long fibers, Mulberry silk is more refined than other types of silks, such as wild silk, which are less uniform in color and texture, with shorter strands.

Manito’s decades of experience and expertise in harvesting and manufacturing raw silk is so well-respected that has allowed them to assist in the drafting of China's National Standards for the manufacture of raw silk and silk duvets.
